October Meeting

Dear Shoreline CT MQG Members,
Greetings! Our next guild meeting will be our last outdoor meeting for 2020. It will be held at Guilford’s Town Green.

Please bring a folding chair, whatever refreshments (if any) you would like for yourself, and a hand stitching project, if you would like to sew.
Our meeting will begin with a “sew-and-tell,” to share any projects we’ve been working on or completed over the past several weeks.

Meeting time: Saturday, October 10th at 10:30 am.
(Our rain date is the following Saturday, October 17th at 10:30am).

Fall Seasonal Swap:

We’re giving you advance notice so you can partake in our fall seasonal swap. If you’d like to partake it’s simple! Make an item to swap. Items that were suggested include: mug rugs/potholders/placemats/table runners/hot pads for pots (which I just found out are called trivets!)…. Whatever you come up with works just fine!! If you bring an item, you get to take an item home. If you choose not to make one, that’s fine too.

COMMUNITY PROJECT (Group Swap):

For the last two meetings we’ve been swapping 10″ crumb-pieced blocksWe will continue this activity at our August meeting. For reference, the video is called REPLAY: Crumb Quilting with Jenny. Please feel free to bring any additional blocks you would like to our July meeting. The idea is that you may take as many blocks as you bring, i.e. if you put two blocks in you may take two blocks out.

ARTISTIC GROWTH:

Following up on our projects that explore work that taps into our thoughts and/or emotions; since we touched base with the group on progress at our last meeting. We will take some time during this month’s meeting to share progress or show completed projects.

Reminder: The idea is to create a piece that conveys a message that is relevant or meaningful to you. The message can include words and letters, codes or symbols, or can be completely pictorial. The project can be a block, wall-hanging, or a whole quilt.

EDUCATION:

If you have not already done so, please feel free to sign up to lead a group workshop. This can be a technique or pattern in which you already excel and can demonstrate different ways to achieve, or it can be a technique that you decide to explore and then share your learnings with the group. The idea is to challenge ourselves creatively while adding to our collective skill base. You can find the sign-up sheet here
